Since 1994…

•November 6, 2008 • Leave a Comment

After a long tenure of wait which took 14.5 years of my life, desired things of the past are going to happen on 8th November… INSHALLAH… ALHAMDULILLAH!

Well, I shall not disclose the subject of my achievement because it has always been between me and my Allah S.W.T. But one thing that I observed over a long span of years is that whatever we pray, is heard and entertained in its best form in the court of Almighty. Happening of any desired event might take decades but it happens if Allah’s will is there.

Today, if I look back, many things pop up in my head and fade away one by one… far away… like:

I see a guy who used to cry in prayers…
I see a guy who used to stay quiet…
I see a guy whose eyes used to water like a river…
I see a guy who never bought “no”…
I see a guy who use to ride a cycle from his village to city for studies…
I see a guy sweating in the summer and shivering in the fall…
I see a guy falling, crawling and rising…
I see a guy, very ordinary guy…

I see Allah giving ear to his voices…
I see Allah listening to his silence…
I see Allah wiping his tears off…
I see Allah encouraging him all the way….
I see Allah pushing him forward…
I see Allah being his shade and shield…
I see Allah helping him out all the time….
I see Allah consoling him in his tough days…
I see Allah… the extra ordinary…

Na jane kaise apni zaat hai
Tera mera jo sath hai
Kal tha apna aaj begana
Waqat waqat ke baat hai

Ye jo jeenay kee cha hai
Jahan tuk mujh ko yaad hai
Kabhi thakun kabhi josh
Buss teray he sath hai

Kub se tum ko chaha hai
Kub se tum ko manga hai
Ab kuch hummey yaad nahi
Bohut purani baat hai

Quaid-e-Azam : The man who stood against all odds

“You should not be influenced by any political pressure, by any political party or individual politician. If you want to raise the prestige and greatness of Pakistan, you must not fall victim to any pressure but do your duty as servants to the people and the State fearlessly and honestly. Service is the backbone of the State. Governments are formed, Governments are defeated, Prime Ministers come and go, Minister come and go, but You stay on, and therefore, there is a very great responsibility placed on your shoulders. Make the people feel that you are their servants and friend, maintain the highest standard of honour, integrity, justice and fair play. Work honestly and sincerely.”

(Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Address to the Public Servants on 14 April 1948).

My Sweet Mother

•September 24, 2008 • 1 Comment

The one lady who has been involved in nurturing me, my life since my childhood is my sweet, loving and affectionate mom. In Pakistan, usually children “The perfect lady of the life” with words like: Mummy, Mom, Aami Jee & Maan jee. Whenever I want to take her attention, to talk to her, to address her questions, I use word “MOTHER”. After Allah and Muhammad (S.A.W), this is the sweetest world of the universe. It means a lot to me. It is the name of my queen, my sweet heart and the one who can go to any extent to comfort me, to console me and to protect me. Sometimes, I feel like calling her “Maan Jee”. But she is not used to of listening to it and prefers to hear “mother”. Mostly, my friends ask me why I don’t call her Aami Jee instead of mother. I keep telling them I have never said it to her. I don’t feel like saying to her. To me, Mother is a fully loaded word and doesn’t contain any hollowness.

Whenever life torments, after calling Allah, I go to my mother. Mostly my job keeps me away from her. Thanks to the invention of phone. I talk to her. Its my habit to call her up daily. If I forget, she gives me a miss call and then I revert to her. In busy schedules, I can forget to call her but she never does. She expects my call every day. She has some pet questions like:

When are you coming?
How would you come?
Do you have any friend while traveling?
For how long are you coming?
Does your company not offer enough annual leaves?
Aren’t you running short of money?

Holy Quran says: “ and your lord has commanded that you shall not serve (any) but him, and goodness to your parents. if either or both of them reach old age with you, say not to them (so much as) “ugh” nor chide them, and speak to them a generous word – Chapter 17 , Verse 23”

May Allah guide us to respect and honor our parents! Aamin

Explosion in Marriot Hotel – 920 attack in Pakistan

•September 22, 2008 • 5 Comments

It was September 20, 2008 and the evening. I had Aftaar, offered my Maghrib prayer and was relaxing when my phone started buzzing. My family was curious to know my whereabouts due to a major explosion in one of the main hotels of Islamabad, Pakistan. I was flabbergasted when I came to know that the aim was Marriot Hotel which had to face terrible terrorist attack.

Now

Before

Worriedly, I turned on TV, tuned GEO TV and heard main bulletin giving brief of the unfortunate upset. It happened after one hour of Aftaar in Marriot Hotel near its entrance. Resources quoted that blast happened due to a truck loaded with explosive material which forcefully tried to enter into premises of the hotel. Many ambulances, security and rescue staff was being shown on the TV. There were dead bodies, injured people, crying loud voices, wind of smoke and fire hugging the whole building.

In the explosion of Marriot Hotel, around 90 people died and 240 injured. A hotel staff of around 100 people got unemployed. In the end, these are poor, innocent and under privileged people who be victim of such heinous crime. No matter, attacks are done in Islamabad, Delhi or New York, their lives suffer…

My ex-Dream Cellphone

It was 2002 when Nokia launched a wonderful handset carrying Camera in it. It was first of such a phone Nokia ever produced in that era. I still remember one of my uni mates, Yasir Zameer Ahmad used to hold it in his pocket and he purchased that one by spending PKR 45,000 – a quite hefty amount that time. It became a style icon and a status symbol pretty soon. Bollywood superstar, Salman Khan used it too. Today if we look at the specs of the phone, it appears very ordinary. But still it has the grace and elegance. A marvelous piece of art, I must say.

Clumsy transformation

College life means freedom, innocence and studies to me. Few things pop up in my head whenever I step in the past. Tan jeans, t-shirts and joggers were all about fashion when I was studying at GC Sahiwal. A pair of shoes of Harley Davidson was on top of wish list but unaffordable. Levis and Nike were out of reach. Italian eyewears used to be big luxury items. A currency note of PKR100 was considered as immense blessing. Back to back tuitions and memorizing Chemistry & Physics were pains in the neck. Titanic movie was heartthrob of every teenager. Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan were considered as idols & style icons. Honda Civic was a dream car albeit most of the mates used to reach college on cycles and Motorcycles (Honda CD 70 and CG 125). All the material stuff was a whish – not the purpose of life. Innocence was there. Students used to love to donate money to under privileged people. Giving alms was routine. A samosa costing PKR 2.0 was enough to fill the stomach. Pepsi and coke were like icing on the cake. It was between 1999-2001.

Its 2008 now. Things have changed drastically and dramatically. Material has become purpose of life. Innocence has gone far away. Peace is a dream. Thirst and hunger of money is taking away every second of life along with health. What am I doing? Why am I doing? Probably, for getting lots of stuff for nothing.

Most of the times…

In our short lives, we usually devote maximum time to our thought process which says why we get less when we give away more or why people are less thankful and we are more generous. In these times, we rank ourselves over the top and put other people behind the bar. We forget that there could be many ends to a story. We remember our pains and serious concerns of life without considering other people lives and bitter side of the picture they might face.

I guess we lack the element of “consideration”. We cannot put ourselves in the shoes of others cause we don’t want to. What are the reason or what could be… I don’t know. You may be of some help…
